SEO Terms You Should Know-Part 1

In the previous post –What is SEO?? already explain what is SEO.
I have mentioned that if you want to do SEO on your site, you should know what is SEO.

In this post, you can find out more SEO Terms that can help you understand how SEO works.

SEM ( Search Engine Marketing )

This can be defined as another name of SEO.
Optimizing and promoting sites, including pay actions and non-pay actions.

SERP ( Search Engine Result Page )

After entering a keyword in the search engine, the search engine will show you a list of website.
Besides the sponsored website, you can find 10 websites in each page. The aim of doing SEO is making your site enter into the first page of SERP. It will be less useful if your site is not listed in the first 3 pages.

Directories

The directories is a library of search engine. Quality sites will be included in the related Directories.
The sites that included into the directories are submitted manually to the search engine.

Crawler, Bot, Spider

Crawler , Bot, Spider are sent by the search engine, they surf the net automatically. Collecting data from sites and indexing sites in the search result. If you see that your site were visited by them frequently, that means your site may be a quality site at the search engine view. The aim of SEO is attracting them to visit targeted sites.

Keywords, KeyPhrases

Keywords and KeyPhrases mean the most important words or phrases in the sites. The keywords and keyPhrases are representing  sites, articles or contents. Crawler , Bot, Spider weight sites and find out what keywords and keyphrases are most related to sites. They will index the pages in the search engine result pages with the related keywords and keyphrases.

Spamming

Spamming is included in the BLACK HAT SEO. It is cheating! Cheating for the Crawler, Bot, Spider.
Keywords stuffing is one of the cheating methods. Entering non-related keywords into the sites will be treated as a BLACK HAT SEO. However, Keywords stuffing can be treated as a WHITE HAT SEO in some situations.
Every actions try to cheat the search engines is not allowed. There will be a disaster to those cheating sites.

The aboves keywords are the most basic and important part about SEO.
