SEO – Insite SEO
SEO can probably be divided into two part, insite SEO and offsite SEO.
Insite SEO means you can done by yourself to optimize your site. In the previous posts ”7 things you should remember about SEO.“ has mentioned some of the factors will affect your SERP.
In this post, I am going to make a conclusion about Insite SEO.
Domain Name
Before you set up a site. You should think about your domain name. Keywords included in the domain name will gain an advantage on SEO. Your site will receive a better recognition from the Search Engine.
If your site Domain name does not include keyword’s, you should do somethings on the path. For instance, this post is about insite SEO, you will see the URL of this post will be “http://kyrosp.com/seo-insite-seo“, the keywords ” SEO ” and ” insite SEO ” are included in the URL. It will be recognized by the search engine much easier.
Title
Title for your site is very important. Title will be seen by the search engine spiders after the URL. Similar to the Domain name, including keywords in your title will be recognized by the search engine much easier. Remember that title should not be too long. It should contain about 10 to 70 characters.
Meta Description
Meta Description tells your searcher what is your site about. It is the third information about your site will be shown to the search engine spiders. The search result will only display about 160 characters, therefore you should control the length of the meta description under 160 characters.
Meta Keywords
Although Google has announced that they will ignore the meta keywords, you are recommended to insert meta keywords in your site. You are not only targeting Google only, other search engines like Yahoo, MSN did not announce they ignore the meta keywords. You should remember your meta keywords should be related to your site content, otherwise you may be treated as spam.
Headings
Your site title should be in H1 size. H1 size words are the most easiest to be recognized by the spiders. The headings of articles should be in H1 or H2.
Bold
Besides the H1 or H2 size words. Bold words are another spiders’ love. In your articles contents, try to bold your keywords!!
Text / Html ratio
The text and html ratio should be over 15%, it will affect your keywords density. More text means your keywords will appear more frequently in your pages. It can help you to boost your website SEO.
Frame and Flash
Avoiding adding Frame and Flash to your site. They may block the spiders and push them away. The result is your site where contain Frame or Flash may not be indexed by the search engine.
Sitemap
It helps the search engine to crawl your site correctly, submit your sitemap to search engine through webmaster tools. For more details about site map, you can read the post “SEO – Sitemap”
Robot.txt
A robots.txt file allows you to restrict the access of search engine robots that crawl the web, and it can prevent these robots from accessing specific directories and pages. It also specifies where the XML sitemap file is located.
Content
Do not let your content length too short or too long. Control in the range from 300 words to 600 words. Too short will make your content less quality and too long will drive your audience out. You site content should be updated frequently. Frequently update will attract spiders and your pages will be indexed faster.
